Sustainability/Eco-FriendlyWe purchase all of our freshwater fish from farms in Florida. Th ese fish have not been harvested from wild populations ensuring those stocks are not in danger of becoming threatened or extinct. Farm raised fish are also bred and selected to be hardier and better suited to aquarium life than wild caught specimens. They were raised in close proximity of other fish so they are used to that atmosphere unlike saltwater fish that tend to get stressed and aggressive when in close proximity to other fish. Almost all saltwater livestock is harvested directly from coral reefs, which obviously is not good for our environment.
Long-term SuccessFreshwater aquariums are not as sensitive as saltwater environments and the fish are much hardier.
